Hi everyone, been a member for a while but have been searching for a hq coupe for a year or so and finally found one after travelling interstate etc etc. My question is regarding the rochester on my near original 72 hq gts coupe 308 auto. It runs the early pre-polution manifold but the early rochester was a side entry on these q's now it has i was told by the previous owner a c/o rochester which is of a 84 to say 85 motor. Now over the years with changes to manifold's & and the rochesters is it fair to say that these c/o off the shelf carby's are just stripped, cleaned and kitted and sold as is ?.....and this may not be set up correctly for the early pre polutiuon manifolds? It drives " just ok" but compared to an original " hz gts" i owned in my early 20's there chalk and cheese ! The hz gts if you were to flip the air filter lid or remove the filter all together "dam" there was a hell of an induction growl and went fantastic for a stock motor as for my hq gts this just isn't there !! Living out of adelaide i was going to take for a dyno tune at west torrens but time is a real issue running my own business etc.
Going by some previous posts and threads i've loved the rochester v holley debates and have to lean to the rochester as well.there is some pretty dam switched on people on this site and would gladly take the carby off and send of it for a rebuild to anyone that would like the task. I have added some pic's in my album for everyone to check out once i worked out how to add them !! It's a near original 72 hq gts coupe 308 auto, silver loan-o-ranger stripes and yes even the stock manifolds are going back on in a few week's sorry to bore some of you fella's but hey have to keep the balance between modifieds and original's , can't bring myself to modify this one.
