Hey guys so I've stopped working on the tonner after the cab got hacked up so I'm using the chassis to transplant a 1938 Chevrolet 4door sedan but I'm looking for the measurements of the tonner chassis

CAM Pump Profile

My 600DP carby has the front cam - orange (with the number 336 stamped on it) hole 1 on both cam & carby (only 1 hole on this cam)
Rear cam is orange hole 2 on the cam and carby, 3 holes on this cam.

Should I have different cams, I'm after hard throttle response.

Cheers,

Reproduction grilles for for Holden HZ Series - anyone know one that fits?

$

Bought a reproduction Holden H Series full chrome grille and badge. It arrived today in the post. Unboxed - made in plastic  well it is a reproduction and not expensive - the finish and chrome all look very good and it seems solid enough.

Out to the ute (the old one is still good but somewhat flat in finish) and grille of in a few minutes.

DISATER- the new plastic shiny chrome grille does not fit. It is too short compared to the original and the V angle in the centre to follow the body line is too aggressive and the grille sits out away from the body a fair bit. Some investigation revealed it will not "flatten" so as to spread across the opening and align the mounting holes and too much persuasion on the V would result in a cracked or even broken grille.

Has anyone purchased a reproduction grille that fits like the original? This is a genuine question not sarcasm - I want a new grille for my ute.

Thanks

Nissan 200SX S15 – RWD Turbo Power

The Nissan Silvia was an affordable sports car with all the right ingredients. Turbocharged power, rear wheel drive, and striking good looks is a timeless recipe, and the last Silvia had all of them in the right proportions.

This Silvia, or 200SX when it was sold here by Nissan Australia, is the last generation made, going by the chassis code, S15. The previous generations were already legendary mainstays in the modified car scene, thanks to the balance of power, handling and styling. The S15 has the most powerful factory engine ever in a Silvia, and is paired with a six speed gearbox, driving a helical LSD in the rear. It drives as good as it looks, too. Without any modern electronic nannies other than ABS, the driver has full control over the S15. To use grip for the racing line, or hang the tail out for fun, the S15 can do both in equal measures.

The longevity of the S15 has been bolstered by the staggering amount of aftermarket parts for it. From extreme wide body kits, to off the shelf racing and drifting suspension setups, the S15 can be fully customised for drag, drift, racing or just for the street. Bendix has just the right brake pads to match the S15’s versatile roles.

The Bendix Ultimate is a high performance brake pad that is engineered for pure stopping power on windy roads or on the track. However, daily drivability is not compromised, thanks to the special Bendix noise absorbing shims. Providing excellent pedal feel from the get-go, the Bendix Ultimate is highly tolerant of extreme temperatures for fade free braking.

Brake Pads’ Parts Numbers

Nissan 200SX (S15) 1999 – 2001 Front: DB1170 Ultimate

Nissan 200SX (S15) 1999 – 2001 Rear: DB325 Heavy Duty

Autoglym at GT-R Festival, Fitted Festival and Mercedes-Benz Experience Drive Day

The month of June has been a busy one for the Autoglym team, having attended three huge events in the first week alone.

First up was GT-R Festival at Sydney Dragway on the 3rd of June. A day dedicated to anything and everything to do with the famed GT-R badge. Cars such as the classic Hakosuka to the current R35 GT-R – basically heaven for any GT-R enthusiast.

During the event, we had the pleasure of partnering up with Nissan Australia and NISMO, and were given the opportunity to detail the stunning 2017 NISMO GT-R, treating it to a quick Autoglym Surface Detailing Clay Kit before applying a coat of our Autoglym High Definition Wax. This kept the car looking fantastic, even as rain started to come down around lunch time, the GT-R was left water beading and looking flawless.

Later that day, we made the trip down to Sydney Airport for the much anticipated Fitted Festival V. Amazing cars from all around Sydney as well as interstate made an appearance.

Not to be outdone, our stand featured Luke’s gorgeous pearl orange Evo 8 and John from V-sport’s amazing Datsun 1600 Wagon.

Throughout the night, we had plenty of inquiries about our product range and once again our Autoglym High Definition Wax was put to the test as the rain swept past towards later in the night.

Last but not least, we attending the Mercedes-Benz Experience drive day at Sydney Motorsport Park.

This drive day gave participants a chance to sharpen their driving skills in a safe and controlled environment and help them improve upon driving safely and confidently. The day featured a team of professional driving instructors and a series of dynamic handling exercises that tested driver reflexes during a range of different simulated emergency situations as well demonstrate the technology and handling capabilities of the Mercedes-Benz Range.

But with the cars driven hard all day means they get real dirty!

We were honoured to be given the opportunity to put our range of products to the test. Cleaning, reviving and protecting the paint of the Mercedes fleet back to showroom condition.

We wish to thank all the event organisers from the three events, as well as the individuals that came and said hello and asked us questions.

If you want to know more how we can help your fleet? Just shoot us a message.

holden 308 which Carb ?

$

HI All

So yeh have a history posting here but may be about to solve all my problems have a 750 vac secondary carby which I may be able to swap for a 650 mechanical secondaries double pumper. Anyway my engine specs are below what would everyone recommend. As most of you probably already know I have a holley 750 vac secondaries which runs way to rich etc I can swap it out for a holley 650 double pumper what does everyone think.

The jets in the 650 dp apparently are 66 primary and 72 secondaries.

Anyway below is a list of my specs as they stand copied and pasted from previous discussions

Well i bought the car 2nd hand what I do know

It was an ex turbo v8 carby fed but was removed before I purchased I know its true as it has the cutouts etc in the guards for cooler piping
Its a red 308 block from a hq QT11 engine number
It has a 750 holley vac sec carby no idea on jet sizes or powervalve havent pulled it apart but its a clean good looking zinc carb
Torque power hi rise single plane manifold
Unsure of head work i guess the red heads had the bigger valves no roller rockers or anything
Cam Im really unsure previous owner didnt mention it however it sounds chunky but this could be because of the below
Straight cut timing gears with a gilmer belt drive
genie extractors
crane cams hi6 fireball ignition system.
Standard dizzy unsure how its graphed car currently desnt run vacuum advance pipe from dizzy to carb
m21 manual gearbox
4.11 diff gears
had 8 range spark plugs changed them back to 6 heat range as they were fouled badly.
I mucked around with timing and threw a vacuum guage on when trying to tune the carb the best i could get the needle was 9 which was in the red zone and it bounced around from 9-7. Makes me think it either has a cam or the motor is shagged. Havent done a compression test yet busted my guage.

Car is a bit rocky at idle but it really does pull very hard no flat spots or anything the carb just soaks the plug the cabin smells like fuel badly the tailpipe is chacoal etc. I nearly die If I run it with the garage door down and its even bad with it up. Car doesnt seem to blow any smoke at all. Cold start is bad have to rev it and stuff for 5 or so minutes once its warm it will idle ok.

Im thinking it may have a cam as why do all the other work without putting in a cam plus i guess a turbo v8 would ask for an upgraded cam for good results. Its a bloody noisy car but it could be the gilmer and straight cut timing gears. The oil does go blackish quickly after an oil change and smalls a bit I have a feeling some fuel may be getting in either that or shes worn but like I said no smoke even on a cold start.

308 misfire/backfire at 3000rpm?

G'day everyone, I'm desperately chasing some help from the experienced 304/308 guys, I've recently installed a fresh rebuilt 308 into my VH commodore, engine is 308 304 heads all machined and fully rebuilt, 4690 crow cam 234/244 i think?, come racing single plane, holley 650 HP street, msd ready to run distributor, msd leads, now this engine and combo was run in and dyno'd at Westend Performance before install and had no issues at all, now after installing in the car which is also fully rebuilt all the wiring is new to, sent it off to a tuner to be tuned again here in Canberra as it was running a little rich, and came across this random backfire/mis at around 3000rpm now I'm not sure it's a misfire but the engine definitely hesitates and backfires at the same rpm every time, it will rev fine up to and beyond this but it's in the same spot every, so obviously we went chasing ignition timing first, then fuel, even changed distributor and carby separately and together, checked rocker adjustment, coil, power to coil and distributor, earth's, ect.. We have checked all the obvious stuff twice over, now he is in the process of checking cam timing but I'm not sure that is going to be our issuer, but we are running out of things it could be, has anyone come across anything like this before? Any help or advice would be appreciated, cheers.

Hi guys I've changed my set up to use forged piston and H bean rods. I'm using a high energy sump and when I turn it over by hand it sounds like the rods are hitting the sump.
I didn't have this issue with the I bean rods.
Is there a sump with more clearance in it?

Hi interested to know if anyone has used and if so what their experience has been with after market WB headlight lens/glass...similar to this and others available..?

HOLDEN WB STATESMAN HEAD LIGHT LENSES PAIR NEW (REPRO) | eBay

I bought a pair for my Statesman, one of the originals had a crack...originals in good condition are ridiculously expensive...even the after market ones are a rip off....anyway got around to fitting one last weekend...all good - was quite pleased...car back in garage...took it out of garage today....not even driven and the new lens has a crack almost half way through...$%%##$%!!!
Sure the aftermarket ones did not feel like the same quality as the original but this is crazy...no problems fitting, no damage...I did turn the headlights on...it's as though one short thermal cycle was just too much...

Hi, just wondering how COME cam CSBH222 would go in a vr 355 stroker with single T/B and stock convertor for practical street use and occasional collingrove hillclimb. Starting a build but need cam so compression can be made to suit. More options that way.Manifold being honed with 70mm T/B.Cheers.

HSV 185i 5L mods

Hello guys,

I've managed to obtain myself a nice VSIII Caprice, HSV 185i variant.

Its got 113,000km on the clock.

At the moment the only mods it has on it are a catback exhaust and it appears to be shift kitted as it shifts gears nice and hard.

I noticed these have been released:

Aluminum Cylinder Heads - Holden - Performer RPM - Edelbrock, LLC.

Are a set of alloy heads a decent upgrade to an otherwise standard engine aside from the HSV cam and exhaust? Also will they fit with the standard banana manifold and EFI setup?

I'm considering a turbo conversion as well, I've got two 45mm turbosmart wastegates sitting around at home new in box, and looking at a Wolf V550 ECU to run it all as they do a plug in kit and I think it can control the auto unlike the Haltech GM Sport.

I'm only thinking of running 8-12 PSI to give it a bit more go but nothing too serious, maybe a Borgwarner SXE361 turbo, don't want to rev it past 5000 RPM as per its factory redline, want some nice low down muscle, if we could turn 220-250KW at the wheels I'd be happy.

I'm considering either the turbo conversion or the Yella Terra supercharger kit,:

http://store.yellaterra.com.au/holde...n-intercooled/

I'd prefer turbo but if the charger kit gives good gains and is much less messing about I'd consider it.

Thanks.

Advice/help adjusting Quadrajet mixture screws

Hi,

My 308 (286 cam, 10:1 comp) is running rich as hell. At the moment the timing is at 18/19 degrees. My clothes stink of fumes so I would like to lean the carby out to reduce the fumes. Any experienced Quaddy dudes here who can tell me the best way to tune this to achieve that? Two mixtures screws, either side of the carby, I played with earlier and I did manage to reduce a bit of the richness but I think I can do more as I'm not too sure where to leave the settings at.

No other issues are involve here. There's strong richness smell sitting at the lights or in Park. The motor runs fine, no issues starting up when cold/hot. No fouling plugs or flat spots. Performance wise I think it has more in it and the carby has been tuned with the mixtures before and over some time the richness just comes back like it is de-tuning itself so if there is anything else that may cause this please let me know.

Is there any chance the carby has an issue internally? The carby has done about 5k since last rebuild. I say this, as mentioned earlier, is because it was tuned on the scope and so I didn't expect it to reset itself back to idling rich.

Any help?

Cheers

383 Stroker Ht premier build - SPARK PLUGS

Hi All, need all the HKTG prem gurus to help me out with a couple problems I'm stuck with.
I have a 383 sbc with AFR 210 angle plug heads and I can't seem to get the last rear spark plugs in on both side...they are obstructed buy one of the header pipes. The headers are pacemaker 4into1's . I originally had them on the car with a 350chev in it which also had angled plug alloy heads and the plugs fitted no problem. Worst thing is I just got the headers ceramic coated And the build is finished with only the spark plugs to do before firing it up 🙉🙉🙉😩😡🤒. Any ideas pleaseeeeeee. Preferably easy solution.
