HX Project for a man and his boys

Hi everyone,

Here I am, another newbie. I have been looking at your site and forums for project cars for the last few weeks and am impressed with the way you are able to accomodate greenhorns like me and the knowledge shared on all the forums.

We have taken delivery of our HX. I have been wanting a car to turn into a cruising rumbler for a long while and have convinced myself that this will be a good project for me and the boys (4x) to do. I have shown them all the work involved and they are still keen - they are good workers and willing to apply and learn new skills.

This car is a no frills HX but appears reasonably sound. There ia a little blistering in a couple of the usual areas, but the least rust I have seen in most old drivers. The panels appear okay, but there is plenty of stone chipping on all panels (if you look closely at the photo you will see) and there are a couple of 'Nanna dents' in the boot.

We are thinking that we will firstly tranasplant the 202 with a standard 308 and manual tans but we will have plenty of questions on that front. We are mostly used to working on tractors and implements rather than engine work.

We will probably sit and think about the body work for a bit because it looks like there is no going back when we start and chase rust etc. It has been a while since I have diy repaired damaged panels I created on my P's.

Happy to receive your comments and suggestions as we go along.

We are in Northern Tassie.

I hope the photo comes up okay - this is my first time posting. I can do more too to display the true beauty of my bogan mobile.
