308 gas build?

Well, I originally wanted to rebuild my 253 for my HG Sedan. But its a 60thou and the bores are rooted, so now i have to buy a new block, I probably should buy a 308.
Is it possible to build one for straight gas and get around 250-300hp at the rear wheels?
