You are looking at a very unique car. Soon after purchasing the Coupe I completed a full restoration including all interior items and converted it to a 308 manual from 253 auto. It was originally an LS so if you are looking for matching numbers this is not the car for you.
Since then I became interested in competition and the car evolved from a club car to State and National competition level and finally an early classic Targa vehicle.
The car is fully engineered and has VIC roads approval (and full registration) for a 6 point cage which due to a rule change is no longer available in VIC. I regularly use the car on the road and often drive to work on a Friday. It has the fully restored interior and the cage is a two piece removable item from FabRAIcations. You can convert it back to an unassuming HQ GTS in less than a day.

Engine
The engine is the very first COME 396 kit and was freshened up in late 2010 including a bigger cam. It is a full roller engine, 0.620 lift cam, ASR circuit sump, ported HQ heads with stainless steel valves, TP intake, Demon 750 carb and Pacemaker ceramic coated headers. Most items were replaced when the engine was done. It has a reco’d PS pump and steering box plus new pressure and return lines. I have also fitted a Commodore cup reduction pulley to keep the PS from over revving. It gives the PS a great feel on the track. The plug leads are a custom made 8.5mm MSD set. The crank and rocker cover ventilation has been upgraded with a 3L catch can. The alloy radiator and thermo fan is about 6 months old and an oil cooler was added also about 6 months ago. Ducting has been added to improve the efficiency of the cooling and it NEVER overheats. The clutch is a new generation Excedy and is behind a yella terra lightweight flywheel. The heater core has been replaced along with all lines and hoses. The air filter is a K&N unit for improved breathing. The distributor has been rebuilt and re-graphed for the engine. The engine was built for torque and it has plenty of that! It is great to drive around the streets but pulls real hard out of the corners on the track.

The master cylinder is a new HZ disk/disk unit and has new lines to a reconditioned (and very rare) HZ disk/disk prop valve. It has braided lines all round and on the front are R32 calipers with custom made Harrop front two piece disks. These disks were custom made by the Harrop V8 Supercar guys at a cost of $2,800 … for the two. There is an adjustable prop valve to the rear and reconditioned HZ Statesman calipers on the rear with near new disks. I have a selection of pads and adjustments for Hillclimbs, Circuit and Targa setups. The brakes have a custom ducting setup including a main duct from the front and a sulimentary duct on the caliper itself. Since running this setup I have never had a braking problem including the big Mt Buller downhill stage. You would not believe how fast you can pull this car up from 200+k.
