Hi All,
I have a WB ute that has a rusted out front floor pan. A few years back a panel beater replaced the rusted sections with Rarespares replacement floor pans and made a mess of it. Subsequently the floor pan is pretty bad and I am not keen of going down that path again with a Rarespares panel. This is for 2 reasons. The first is that the rusted section is larger than the replacement panel now and also the rare spares panel looks to be a lighter gauge steel then the factory floor.
I've decided to replace the entire front section of the floor pan from the join at the firewall to where the rear section meets it.
I have a pressing from a ute that I am liberating from the sills

The approach I am planning on is to remove the front chassis mounting brackets. Drill the spot welds on the original floor where it meets the firewall seam, sill and rear panel. Then offer up the new pan and plug weld it in place, then reattach the chassis mounting brackets.
I just wanted to check my approach to understand if there is some gotcha I am not considering with getting the new pressing in.
I can only find examples of people using rest replacement panels and cannot find examples of the entire floor being replaced. I appreciate there is a lot of work in my approach but I want to do the best job possible. I will lift the body off the frame and make a jig to hold the chassis in place.
Tips greatly appreciated.
